75 Years: The Aga Khan’s Racing and Breeding Studs, 1922-1997

February 2, 2011

The book, 75 Years: The Aga Khan’s Racing and Breeding Studs, 1922-1997, was compiled and published by Georg Lange, Germany, 1998. This beautiful, large dark green leatherette folio of 610 pages, now out of print, has been described as one of the top 50 best racing books ever written (by John Randall of UK’s Racing Post, as part of his article on the pinnacle of Turf literature). The book has gilt titles on its spine and front cover, and inside includes an index of family tables, family tables of broodmares and H.H. The Aha Khan’s Studs 1998 including notable race records, color and black and white photos, and many pedigree charts and race records. It provides an outstanding and accurate record of this major racehorse breeder. This copy looks brand new.

There is a signature alongside the box on p. viii that says, “This edition consists of 399 copies. This is No. 313.”

Please contact me for more information on this rare book.

Signature Showing Book is #319 of 333

For more information on this book, see also a more recent post on a list of the best books on horse racing, in which this book appears.

Also I found a great review of this book recently, from The Racing Post in 1999: New Books: An essential work and a true treasure; The Aga Khan’s Racing and Breeding Studs 1922-1997 Georg Lange.
